Ingredients
- 2 cups Maize Flour (Makki ka Atta) 🌽
- 1/2 cup Warm Water 💧
- 1/2 tsp Salt 🧂
- 1 tbsp Ghee/Butter (optional) 🧈
- White butter/Ghee for serving
Instructions
- In a bowl, mix maize flour and salt. 🥣
- Gradually add warm water and knead into a soft dough. It should be slightly sticky. 🤲
- Divide the dough into equal-sized balls. ⚪
- On a lightly floured surface, gently flatten each ball with your hands into a roti (flatbread). You can also use a rolling pin, but be careful as the dough can crack. 🖐️
- Heat a tawa (griddle) or flat pan over medium heat. 🔥
- Carefully place the roti on the hot tawa. Cook for 2-3 minutes on one side, until lightly golden. ⏳
- Flip the roti and cook for another 2-3 minutes on the other side. 🔄
- Now, directly cook the roti over an open flame on both sides until it puffs up and gets brown spots. Be careful not to burn it. 🔥
- Alternatively, you can cook the roti on the tawa with a little ghee/butter until golden brown. 🧈
- Serve hot with white butter, saag, dal, or any vegetable curry. 🍽️
