🌍 Indian🍽️ Main Course👥 4 Rotis
Ingredients
- Jowar Flour (Sorghum)
- Warm Water
- Salt
- Ghee/Oil
Instructions
- In a bowl, mix jowar flour and salt. Gradually add warm water and knead into a soft, pliable dough. The dough might be a bit sticky. 🥣
- Cover the dough with a damp cloth and let it rest for 10-15 minutes. 🕰️
- Divide the dough into equal portions and roll them into smooth balls. ⚪
- On a lightly floured surface (use jowar flour), gently flatten a dough ball with your fingers. Then, using a rolling pin, roll it into a thin roti. Be gentle, as jowar roti can break easily. 🫓
- Heat a tawa or griddle over medium heat. Place the roti on the hot tawa. 🔥
- Cook for a few seconds on one side, then flip and cook the other side until small bubbles start to appear. ⏳
- Remove the roti from the tawa and place it directly on an open flame (gas stove) or on a roti toaster. Puff it up by gently pressing with a clean cloth or tongs. 🔥💨
- Alternatively, you can cook it on the tawa itself, pressing it gently with a clean cloth to help it puff up. ♨️
- Apply ghee or oil (optional) and serve hot with your favorite curry or vegetable dish. 😋
