Ingredients
- Jau Flour (Barley Flour) - 2 cups 🌾
- Wheat Flour - 1/2 cup 🌾
- Warm Water - as needed 💧
- Salt - to taste 🧂
- Ghee or Oil - for cooking 🧈
Instructions
- In a bowl, mix jau flour, wheat flour, and salt. 🥣
- Gradually add warm water and knead into a soft dough. 💧 Knead well for 5-7 minutes.
- Cover the dough and let it rest for 15 minutes. ⏰
- Divide the dough into equal-sized balls. 🥠
- Roll out each ball into a roti using a rolling pin. Use some dry flour to prevent sticking. ⚪
- Heat a tawa or griddle over medium heat. 🔥
- Place the roti on the hot tawa and cook for a few seconds on each side until small bubbles appear. ♨️
- Flip the roti and cook the other side until it's lightly browned. 🔄
- Remove the roti from the tawa and cook directly over an open flame for a few seconds on each side until it puffs up. 🔥 (Optional)
- Brush with ghee or oil and serve hot. 🧈 Serve with your favorite curry or dal. 🍛
