Ingredients

  • 🥩 Pork belly or shoulder – 1kg cut into strips
  • 🍯 Honey or maltose – 3 tbsp for glaze
  • 🧄 Garlic – 3 cloves minced
  • 🥢 Five-spice powder – 1 tsp
  • 🧂 Soy sauce – 3 tbsp
  • 🍷 Shaoxing rice wine – 1 tbsp

Instructions

  • 🥣 Whisk together soy sauce, rice wine, five-spice, and garlic in a bowl to create the marinade.
  • 🍖 Coat the meat thoroughly in the marinade and let it sit in the fridge for at least 4 hours.
  • 🔥 Preheat your oven to 180°C (350°F) and place the meat on a rack over a roasting tray.
  • 🍯 Brush the meat with honey during the last 10 minutes of cooking to create a sticky glaze.
  • 🔪 Slice the barbecue pork into thin pieces and serve warm over steamed rice.
