Ingredients
- 🥩 Beef chuck roast – 3 lbs, cut into large chunks
- 🌶️ Dried chiles (Guajillo and Ancho) – 6 each, stemmed and seeded
- 🧅 White onion – 1 large, halved
- 🧄 Garlic – 5 cloves, peeled
- 🍅 Tomato – 1 large, roasted
- 🧂 Spices (Cumin, oregano, cloves, and cinnamon) – 1 tsp each
- 🥣 Beef broth – 4 cups
Instructions
- 🌶️ Toast dried chiles in a pan, then soak in hot water until soft and blend with garlic, spices, and roasted tomato to make a smooth sauce.
- 🥘 Sear the beef chunks in a large pot until browned on all sides to lock in the flavor.
- 🥣 Pour the blended chile sauce and beef broth over the meat, then cover and simmer on low heat for 3 hours until tender.
- 🍖 Remove the meat, shred it with two forks, and return it to the flavorful consommé broth.
- ✨ Serve the birria in bowls topped with fresh cilantro, diced onion, and lime wedges.
