Ingredients

  • 1 lb extra-firm tofu, torn into chunks 🧊
  • 1 cup soy milk 🥛
  • 1 tbsp apple cider vinegar 🍎
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour 🌾
  • 1/2 cup cornstarch 🌽
  • 1 tbsp paprika 🌶️
  • 1 tsp garlic powder 🧄
  • 1 tsp onion powder 🧅
  • 1 tsp dried oregano 🌿
  • Salt and black pepper to taste 🧂
  • Vegetable oil for frying 🌻

Instructions

  • Whisk soy milk and apple cider vinegar together in a bowl to create vegan buttermilk; let sit for 5 minutes. 🥛
  • In a separate shallow dish, combine flour, cornstarch, paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, oregano, salt, and pepper. 🥣
  • Dip each tofu chunk into the buttermilk mixture, then coat thoroughly in the seasoned flour blend. 🥢
  • Heat vegetable oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. 🍳
  • Fry tofu chunks in batches until golden brown and crispy on all sides, about 3-4 minutes per side. 🍗
  • Remove from the pan and drain on a wire rack or paper towels before serving hot. 🍽️
