Ingredients

  • 🍚 Urad dal – for vada
  • 🧅 Onions – chopped for sambhar
  • 🥕 Mixed vegetables – for sambhar (e.g., carrots, pumpkin)
  • 🧄 Garlic – minced for sambhar
  • 🌶️ Red chilies – for tempering
  • 🌿 Curry leaves – for tempering
  • 🫘 Toor dal – for sambhar
  • 🍅 Tomatoes – chopped for sambhar
  • 💧 Tamarind pulp – for sambhar
  • 🧂 Spices – (turmeric, sambhar powder)

Instructions

  • 🥣 Soak urad dal, grind into batter, and deep-fry to make vada.
  • 🥘 Cook toor dal until soft and mash it.
  • 🔥 Sauté vegetables, add tomatoes and sambhar powder.
  • 💧 Add tamarind pulp, cooked dal, and simmer.
  • 🌶️ Temper with mustard seeds, red chilies, and curry leaves. Serve vada with hot sambhar.
