Ingredients

  • 🫘 Dried Fava Beans – 1 cup
  • 🧅 Onion – 1 medium, chopped
  • 🧄 Garlic – 2 cloves, minced
  • 🍋 Lemon – 1, juiced
  • 🌶️ Chili Pepper – 1, optional
  • 🌿 Parsley – chopped, for garnish
  • 💧 Olive Oil – for cooking
  • 🧂 Salt – to taste
  • ✨ Cumin – 1 tsp
  • 💧 Water – for soaking and cooking

Instructions

  • 💧 Soak fava beans overnight in water.
  • 🥘 Drain beans and simmer in a pot with fresh water until very tender (about 1-2 hours).
  • 🔥 Sauté onion and garlic in olive oil until softened.
  • 🥣 Mash some of the cooked beans and mix with sautéed onion and garlic.
  • 🍋 Stir in lemon juice, cumin, salt, and chili (if using).
  • 🌿 Garnish with parsley and serve warm with pita bread.
