Ingredients
- 🍚 Rice – 1 cup
- 🌱 Lentils (Dal) – 1/2 cup
- 🧅 Onion – 1 medium, chopped
- 🍅 Tomato – 2 medium, chopped
- 🌶️ Green chilies – 2, slit
- 🌿 Curry leaves – a few
- 🥄 Turmeric powder – 1/2 tsp
- 🥄 Mustard seeds – 1 tsp
- 💧 Cooking oil – 2 tbsp
- 🧂 Salt – to taste
Instructions
- 🍚 Cook rice and lentils separately until soft.
- 🔥 Heat oil in a pot, add mustard seeds, and let them splutter.
- 🧅 Add onions, green chilies, and curry leaves; sauté until onions turn golden.
- 🍅 Add tomatoes and turmeric powder; cook until tomatoes are soft.
- 🥘 Combine the cooked rice and lentils with the tomato mixture, add salt, and simmer for 5-10 minutes. Serve hot.
