Spicy Sipola

Ingredients

  • 2 large onions 🧅, thinly sliced
  • 2 green chilies 🌶️, finely chopped
  • 1 inch ginger 🫚, grated
  • 2 cloves garlic 🧄, minced
  • 1 teaspoon turmeric powder 💛
  • 1 teaspoon red chili powder ❤️
  • 1/2 teaspoon garam masala
  • 1/4 teaspoon asafoetida (hing)
  • 2 tablespoons gram flour (besan)
  • 1 tablespoon rice flour
  • 2 tablespoons chopped cilantro 🌿
  • Salt to taste 🧂
  • Oil for frying 🛢️

Instructions

  • In a bowl, combine sliced onions, green chilies, ginger, and garlic. Mix well.
  • Add turmeric powder, red chili powder, garam masala, asafoetida, gram flour, rice flour, cilantro, and salt. Mix thoroughly until onions are well coated. Add a tablespoon of water if needed.
  • Heat oil in a deep frying pan or wok over medium heat.
  • Carefully drop small portions of the onion mixture into the hot oil. Do not overcrowd the pan.
  • Fry the sipola until golden brown and crispy, turning occasionally. ⏳
  • Remove the fried sipola with a slotted spoon and place them on a paper towel-lined plate to drain excess oil. ♨️
  • Serve hot and crispy with your favorite chutney or sauce. Enjoy! 🎉
