Ingredients

  • 💛 Yellow lentils (daal) – 1 cup
  • 🧅 Onion – finely chopped
  • 🍅 Tomato – finely chopped
  • 🧄 Garlic – minced
  • 🌶️ Green chili – chopped
  • 🌿 Coriander leaves – for garnish
  • 🥄 Cumin seeds
  • 🥄 Turmeric powder
  • 🥄 Red chili powder
  • 🍋 Lemon juice

Instructions

  • 🥣 Cook the daal until soft. Mash lightly and set aside.
  • 🔥 Heat ghee or oil in a pan. Add cumin seeds and let them crackle.
  • 🧅 Add onions and garlic, sauté until golden brown. Add green chili and tomatoes, cook until softened.
  • 🌶️ Add turmeric powder and red chili powder, sauté for a minute. Pour the cooked daal into the pan.
  • 🌿 Simmer for 5-7 minutes, garnish with fresh coriander leaves and a squeeze of lemon juice. Serve hot with rice or roti.
