Ingredients

  • chickpeas 🫘 - 2 cups, soaked overnight
  • flour 🌾 - 2 cups (for bara)
  • yeast 🍄 - 1 tsp (for bara)
  • turmeric 💛 - 1 tsp
  • cumin 🌰 - 1 tsp
  • shadon beni 🌿 - chopped
  • cucumber 🥒 - diced (for chutney)
  • mango 🥭 - green, grated (for chutney)
  • pepper sauce 🌶️ - to taste

Instructions

  • 🫘 Boil chickpeas until tender; season with turmeric, cumin, and shadon beni.
  • 🌾 Prepare bara by mixing flour, yeast, and water; let rise, then fry until golden.
  • 🥭 Make chutney with cucumber, green mango, garlic, and pepper.
  • 🥘 Assemble doubles by placing chickpeas between two bara.
  • 🌶️ Top with chutney and pepper sauce to taste; serve warm.
