Ingredients

  • 🌾 All-purpose flour – 500g for the dough base
  • 🥛 Warm milk – 250ml to activate yeast
  • 🧈 Unsalted butter – 80g melted and cooled
  • 🥚 Egg yolks – 2 large for a rich texture
  • 🍞 Dry yeast – 1 packet (7g)
  • 🧂 Sugar & Cinnamon – for the iconic coating
  • 🥜 Walnuts – crushed for an optional crunch

Instructions

  • 🥣 Mix warm milk, yeast, and sugar, then combine with flour, butter, and yolks to knead a smooth dough.
  • 🌡️ Cover the dough and let it rise in a warm place for about 1 hour until it doubles in size.
  • 🥨 Roll the dough into long strips and wrap them tightly around greased cylinders or rolling pins.
  • 🔥 Brush with melted butter and bake or grill at 200°C, rotating regularly until golden brown.
  • ✨ Roll the hot pastry immediately in cinnamon sugar and crushed nuts until fully coated.
