Ingredients

  • 🍰 All-purpose flour – 2 1/2 cups
  • 🍫 Unsweetened cocoa powder – 2 tbsp
  • 🧂 Baking soda – 1 tsp
  • 🧂 Salt – 1 tsp
  • 🧈 Unsalted butter – 1 cup
  • 🍚 Granulated sugar – 2 cups
  • 🥚 Large eggs – 2
  • 🧪 Red food coloring – 2 tbsp
  • 🥛 Buttermilk – 1 cup
  • ☕ White vinegar – 1 tsp
  • 🍦 Vanilla extract – 1 tsp
  • 🧀 Cream cheese – 8 oz
  • 🍥 Powdered sugar – 3 cups

Instructions

  • 🔥 Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour cake pans.
  • 🥣 Whisk together dry ingredients in a bowl. Cream butter and sugar.
  • 🥚 Beat in eggs, then add food coloring. Alternate adding dry and wet ingredients.
  • 🥄 Mix in vinegar and vanilla extract. Pour batter into pans.
  • ⏲️ Bake for 25-30 minutes. Cool completely before frosting.
  • 🧀 For frosting: Beat cream cheese and butter. Gradually add powdered sugar.
