Ingredients
- 🥩 Ground meat – 2 lbs (beef, pork, or veal)
- 🧅 Onion – 1 large, chopped
- 🥕 Carrots – 2 medium, chopped
- 🌿 Celery – 2 stalks, chopped
- 🍅 Tomato paste – 2 tbsp
- 🥫 Canned tomatoes – 28 oz, crushed
- 🍷 Red wine – 1 cup
- 🧄 Garlic – 4 cloves, minced
- 🌿 Fresh herbs – (bay leaf, thyme, rosemary)
- 🥛 Milk or cream – 1/2 cup (optional)
- 🧀 Parmesan cheese – for serving
Instructions
- 🔥 Brown the ground meat in a large pot or Dutch oven. Drain excess fat.
- 🧅 Add onion, carrots, and celery to the pot and cook until softened, about 5-7 minutes.
- 🧄 Stir in garlic and tomato paste, cooking for another minute. Deglaze with red wine, scraping up any browned bits.
- 🍅 Add crushed tomatoes, herbs, and bring to a simmer. Reduce heat to low, cover, and cook for at least 3 hours, or until the sauce has thickened and flavors have melded.
- 🥛 Stir in milk or cream (optional) during the last 30 minutes of cooking. Serve over pasta with Parmesan cheese.
