Ingredients
- 4 chicken legs, cut into bite-sized pieces 🍗
- 1/2 cup all-purpose flour 🌾
- 1/2 cup potato starch 🥔
- 1/2 cup ice-cold water 💧
- 1/4 cup soy sauce 🍾
- 1/4 cup mirin 🍾
- 1 tablespoon sake 🍾
- 1 tablespoon sugar 🍬
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder 🧄
- 1 teaspoon ginger powder 🧄
- Salt and pepper to taste 🧂
Instructions
- Mix the soy sauce, mirin, sake, sugar, garlic powder, ginger powder, salt, and pepper in a bowl 🥣.
- Add the chicken pieces to the bowl and marinate for 15 minutes ⏳.
- Combine the flour and potato starch in another bowl 🥣.
- Dip each piece of chicken into the flour mixture, then dip into the ice-cold water, and coat again with the flour mixture 🍤.
- Heat oil in a deep fryer or deep pan to 350°F (175°C) 🔥.
- Fry the chicken pieces until golden brown and crispy, about 5-7 minutes 🍗.
- Drain on paper towels and serve immediately 🍽️.
