Instructions
- 1: Dal: Wash and soak all dals for 30 minutes. Cook with water, turmeric, and salt in a pressure cooker until soft (3-4 whistles). 🍲
- 2: Heat ghee in a pan. Add cumin, mustard seeds, red chilies, and hing. Sauté ginger-garlic paste, then add onions and tomatoes. Cook until soft. 🔥
- 3: Add red chili powder, coriander powder, and garam masala. Sauté well. Add the cooked dal and simmer for 10 minutes. Finish with lemon juice and coriander. 🍋🌿
- 4: Batti: Mix wheat flour, semolina, ghee, baking soda, and salt. Add water gradually to form a stiff dough. Divide into small balls. 🥣
- 5: Cook battis in a preheated oven at 350°F (175°C) for 20-25 minutes, turning occasionally, or cook them in a traditional tandoor/oven until golden brown. Alternatively, you can deep fry them until golden brown. ♨️
- 6: Churma: Crush the cooked battis into a coarse powder. Add melted ghee, powdered sugar, cardamom powder, and chopped nuts. Mix well. 🌰🍬
- 7: Serve the dal hot with batti and churma. Enjoy! 🎉
