Ingredients

  • 🍚 Basmati Rice – 2 cups
  • 🐔 Chicken – 1.5 lbs, cut into pieces
  • 🧅 Onions – 2 large, sliced
  • 🍅 Tomatoes – 2 medium, chopped
  • 🧄 Ginger-Garlic Paste – 2 tbsp
  • 🌶️ Green Chilies – 2-3, slit
  • 🌿 Mint Leaves – handful
  • 🌿 Cilantro – handful
  • 🥄 Biryani Masala – 2 tbsp
  • 🥛 Yogurt – 1/2 cup
  • 🍋 Lemon Juice – 1 tbsp
  • 🥄 Ghee – 2 tbsp
  • 💧 Water – as needed

Instructions

  • 🐔 Marinate chicken with yogurt, ginger-garlic paste, biryani masala, and lemon juice. Refrigerate for at least 30 minutes.
  • 🧅 Sauté sliced onions in ghee until golden brown. Remove half for garnish.
  • 🔥 Add marinated chicken, tomatoes, green chilies, mint, and cilantro to the pot. Cook until chicken is partially cooked.
  • 🍚 Layer the partially cooked rice over the chicken. Add saffron-infused milk (optional).
  • 🥘 Cook on low heat, covered, until rice is fully cooked and chicken is tender. Garnish with fried onions and serve hot.
