Cavatelli San Marzano Tomato Sugo

Ingredients

  • 🍝 Cavatelli pasta – 1 pound
  • 🍅 San Marzano tomatoes – 28 oz can
  • 🧄 Garlic – 2 cloves, minced
  • 🧅 Onion – 1/2, chopped
  • 🌿 Fresh basil – for garnish
  • 🧀 Parmesan cheese – grated, for serving
  • Olive oil – 2 tbsp

Instructions

  • 🔥 Heat olive oil in a large pot over medium heat. Add garlic and onion, cook until softened.
  • 🍅 Add San Marzano tomatoes (crushed or whole) to the pot. Simmer for at least 20 minutes, or until the sauce has thickened.
  • 💧 Cook cavatelli pasta according to package directions until al dente. Reserve about 1 cup of pasta water before draining.
  • 🍝 Add the cooked pasta to the tomato sauce. Toss to coat, adding pasta water as needed to reach desired consistency.
  • 🌿 Garnish with fresh basil and Parmesan cheese before serving.
