Ingredients

  • 🫘 Urad dal – 1 cup
  • 🧅 Onion – finely chopped
  • 🌿 Curry leaves – 1 sprig
  • 🌶️ Green chilies – 2, chopped
  • 🌱 Cilantro – chopped
  • 🧂 Salt – to taste
  • 💧 Water – as needed
  • 🛢️ Oil – for frying

Instructions

  • 💧 Soak urad dal in water for at least 4 hours.
  • ⚙️ Grind the dal into a smooth batter with minimal water.
  • 🧅 Add onions, curry leaves, green chilies, cilantro, and salt to the batter.
  • 🔥 Heat oil in a deep pan for frying.
  • 🖐️ Shape small portions of the batter into donut shapes and gently slide them into the hot oil.
  • ♨️ Fry until golden brown and crisp on both sides. Serve hot with chutney or sambar.
