Ingredients

  • 🟡 Daal (Lentils) – 1 cup
  • 🧅 Onion – 1 medium, chopped
  • 🍅 Tomato – 1 medium, chopped
  • 🧄 Garlic – 2 cloves, minced
  • 🌶️ Green Chili – 1, slit
  • 🌿 Ginger – 1 inch, grated
  • 🌱 Curry Leaves – 8-10
  • 🥄 Turmeric Powder – 1/2 tsp
  • 🥄 Red Chili Powder – 1/2 tsp
  • 🥄 Cumin Seeds – 1 tsp
  • 🥄 Mustard Seeds – 1 tsp
  • 🌿 Coriander Leaves – for garnish
  • 🧈 Ghee/Oil – 2 tbsp

Instructions

  • 🥣 Cook daal until soft. Mash lightly and set aside.
  • 🔥 Heat ghee/oil in a pan. Add cumin and mustard seeds. Let them splutter.
  • 🧅 Add onion, garlic, ginger, and green chili. Sauté until golden brown.
  • 🍅 Add tomato and cook until soft. Add turmeric and red chili powder.
  • 🥘 Pour cooked daal into the pan. Add salt and simmer for 10-15 minutes.
  • 🌿 Garnish with coriander leaves and serve hot with rice or roti.
