Ingredients
- 💛 Yellow lentils (dal) – 1 cup
- 🧅 Onion – 1 medium, chopped
- 🍅 Tomatoes – 2 medium, chopped
- 🧄 Ginger-garlic paste – 1 tbsp
- 🌶️ Green chilies – 1-2, chopped
- 🌿 Turmeric powder – 1 tsp
- 🌿 Red chili powder – 1/2 tsp
- 🌿 Coriander powder – 1 tsp
- 🌿 Garam masala – 1/2 tsp
- 🧈 Ghee or oil – 2 tbsp
- 🌿 Fresh coriander – for garnish
Instructions
- 💛 Wash the dal thoroughly and soak for 30 minutes.
- 🔥 In a pressure cooker, add dal, water (2 cups), turmeric powder, and salt. Cook for 3-4 whistles.
- 🔥 In a separate pan, heat ghee/oil, add onions and sauté until golden brown.
- 🧄 Add ginger-garlic paste and green chilies. Sauté for a minute, then add tomatoes and cook until soft.
- 🌶️ Add red chili powder, coriander powder, and garam masala. Sauté for another minute.
- 🥘 Pour the cooked dal into the pan and mix well. Simmer for 10-15 minutes.
- 🌿 Garnish with fresh coriander and serve hot with rice or roti.
