Ingredients

  • 🍚 Rice – 2 cups
  • ⚪ Urad Dal (split black lentils) – 1/2 cup
  • 💧 Water – as needed for soaking and grinding
  • 🧂 Salt – to taste
  • 🥄 Oil – for greasing idli molds

Instructions

  • 💧 Soak rice and urad dal separately for 4-6 hours.
  • 🍚 Grind rice and dal into a smooth batter.
  • 🥣 Mix both batters with salt and let it ferment overnight.
  • ♨️ Steam the batter in greased idli molds for 10-12 minutes.
  • 🍽️ Serve hot with chutney and sambar.
