Ingredients
- 🐖 Pork shoulder – 3-4 lbs, cut into chunks
- 🍊 Orange – 1, juiced
- 🍋 Lime – 1, juiced
- 🧅 Onion – 1, quartered
- 🧄 Garlic – 4 cloves, smashed
- 🌿 Bay leaves – 2
- 🧂 Salt – to taste
- 💧 Water – enough to cover pork
Instructions
- 🔥 In a large pot or Dutch oven, combine pork, orange juice, lime juice, onion, garlic, bay leaves, salt, and water.
- ♨️ Bring to a boil, then reduce heat to low, cover, and simmer for 3 hours, or until the pork is very tender and easily shredded.
- ⬆️ Remove pork from the pot and shred with two forks. Discard the onion, garlic, and bay leaves.
- ♨️ In a large skillet, heat some of the cooking liquid over medium-high heat. Add the shredded pork and cook, turning occasionally, until browned and crispy on all sides.
- 🌮 Serve carnitas in tacos, burritos, or bowls with your favorite toppings.
