Ingredients

  • Puff pastry dough (store-bought or homemade)
  • 1 cup granulated sugar 🍚
  • 1/2 cup all-purpose flour 🌾
  • 1 1/2 cups milk 🥛
  • 6 large egg yolks 🥚
  • 1 lemon peel 🍋
  • 1 cinnamon stick
  • Powdered sugar for dusting
  • Ground cinnamon for dusting

Instructions

  • Preheat oven to 550°F (290°C). 🔥
  • In a saucepan, combine sugar, flour, and milk. Whisk until smooth. 🥣
  • Add lemon peel and cinnamon stick. Bring to a simmer over medium heat, stirring constantly until thickened. 🥄
  • Remove from heat and discard lemon peel and cinnamon stick. 🍋➡️🗑️, 🪵➡️🗑️
  • Gradually whisk in egg yolks until well combined. 🥚
  • Let the custard cool slightly. ⏳
  • Roll out puff pastry dough and cut into 12 equal pieces. 🔪
  • Shape each piece of dough into a small cup. Place them into muffin tin. 🧁
  • Pour the custard into each dough cup. 🥄
  • Bake for 15-20 minutes, or until the pastry is golden brown and the custard is slightly charred on top. ⏰
  • Let cool slightly before removing from the muffin tin. ♨️
  • Dust with powdered sugar and ground cinnamon before serving. 🍥✨
