Mapo Tofu

Ingredients

  • 🍚 Tofu – firm or silken, cubed
  • 🌶️ Doubanjiang (fermented bean paste)
  • 🥩 Ground pork or beef (optional)
  • 🧄 Garlic – minced
  • 🧅 Green onions – chopped
  • 🌽 Cornstarch – for thickening
  • 🍶 Soy sauce
  • 🔥 Chili oil – to taste

Instructions

  • 🔥 Heat oil in a wok or pan and stir-fry ground meat until browned. (Skip if vegetarian)
  • 🧄 Add garlic and doubanjiang, stir-fry until fragrant.
  • 🍚 Add tofu and gently mix to avoid breaking the tofu.
  • 🍶 Add soy sauce, sugar, and stock or water. Simmer for 10 minutes.
  • 🌽 Thicken the sauce with cornstarch slurry. Stir until the sauce coats the tofu.
  • 🧅 Garnish with green onions and drizzle with chili oil. Serve hot with rice.🍚
