Ingredients

  • 🖤 Black lentils (Maash daal) – 1 cup
  • 🧅 Onion – finely chopped
  • 🍅 Tomatoes – diced
  • 🧄 Ginger-garlic paste – 1 tbsp
  • 🌶️ Green chilies – chopped (optional)
  • 🌿 Cilantro – for garnish
  • 🧈 Butter or ghee – 2 tbsp
  • 🧂 Salt – to taste
  • 💧 Water – as needed

Instructions

  • 🖤 Wash and soak black lentils for 30 minutes.
  • 🧅 Sauté onions until golden, then add ginger-garlic paste and chilies.
  • 🍅 Add tomatoes and cook until softened.
  • 🥘 Add the soaked lentils, water, and salt. Cook until lentils are tender.
  • 🧈 Finish with butter/ghee and cilantro. Serve hot with rice or roti. 🍚
