Ingredients
- 1 lb Italian sausage 🌶️ (sweet or hot)
- 1 large onion 🧅, chopped
- 2 cloves garlic 🧄, minced
- 1 (28 ounce) can crushed tomatoes 🍅
- 1 (15 ounce) can tomato sauce
- 1 (15 ounce) can cannellini beans, drained and rinsed
- 1 cup chicken broth 🐔
- 1 teaspoon dried oregano
- 1/2 teaspoon dried basil 🌿
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 8 ounces ditalini pasta 🍝
- Grated Parmesan cheese 🧀 for serving
Instructions
- In a large pot or Dutch oven, brown the Italian sausage over medium-high heat. ♨️ Drain off any excess grease.
- Add the chopped onion and minced garlic to the pot and cook until softened, about 5 minutes. ⏱️
- Stir in the crushed tomatoes, tomato sauce, cannellini beans, chicken broth, oregano, and basil. Season with salt and pepper. 🧂
- Bring the mixture to a simmer and then reduce the heat to low. Cover and cook for 20 minutes, allowing the flavors to meld. 🥘
- Add the ditalini pasta to the pot and cook according to package directions, usually about 10-12 minutes, or until the pasta is tender. 🍝
- Stir occasionally to prevent sticking. If the soup becomes too thick, add a little more chicken broth. 🥣
- Serve hot, garnished with grated Parmesan cheese. 🧀 Enjoy! 🎉
