Ingredients

  • 🌱 Jackfruit (Kathal) – 500g, cut into pieces
  • 🧅 Onions – 2 large, thinly sliced
  • 🧄 Ginger-Garlic paste – 2 tbsp
  • 🌶️ Nihari Masala – 4 tbsp (store-bought or homemade)
  • 🥛 Yogurt – 1/2 cup, whisked
  • 🍋 Lemon – 1, cut into wedges
  • 🌿 Coriander leaves – for garnish
  • 🫓 Naan or Roti – for serving

Instructions

  • 🔥 Heat oil in a pot, add onions and fry until golden brown.
  • 🧄 Add ginger-garlic paste and sauté for a minute, then add nihari masala and yogurt. Cook for 5-7 minutes.
  • 🌱 Add the jackfruit pieces and salt. Sauté for 5 minutes, then add 6-8 cups of water.
  • 🥘 Bring to a boil, then reduce the heat and simmer for 2-3 hours, or until the jackfruit is very tender and the gravy has thickened.
  • 🍋 Garnish with coriander leaves and serve hot with naan or roti and a lemon wedge.
