Ingredients

  • 🫙 Turmeric powder – 1 tsp
  • 🧂 Salt – to taste
  • 💧 Water – as needed
  • 🥥 Coconut oil – for tempering
  • 🌱 Mustard seeds – 1 tsp

Instructions

  • 🥘 Cook yam and plantain with turmeric powder, salt, and water until tender.
  • 🥣 Whisk yogurt and add to the cooked vegetables. Simmer gently.
  • 🥥 Pour in coconut milk and bring to a gentle simmer, stirring occasionally.
  • 🔥 In a separate pan, heat coconut oil, add mustard seeds, curry leaves, and green chilies. Let splutter.
  • ✨ Pour the tempering over the kalan, mix well, and serve hot with rice.
