Ingredients
- 🍠 Yam – cubed
- 🍌 Plantain – sliced
- 🥥 Coconut milk – 2 cups
- 🌶️ Green chilies – slit
- 🌿 Curry leaves – a sprig
- 🥣 Yogurt – 1/2 cup
- 🫙 Turmeric powder – 1 tsp
- 🧂 Salt – to taste
- 💧 Water – as needed
- 🥥 Coconut oil – for tempering
- 🌱 Mustard seeds – 1 tsp
Instructions
- 🥘 Cook yam and plantain with turmeric powder, salt, and water until tender.
- 🥣 Whisk yogurt and add to the cooked vegetables. Simmer gently.
- 🥥 Pour in coconut milk and bring to a gentle simmer, stirring occasionally.
- 🔥 In a separate pan, heat coconut oil, add mustard seeds, curry leaves, and green chilies. Let splutter.
- ✨ Pour the tempering over the kalan, mix well, and serve hot with rice.
