Ingredients
- ⚫ Black Lentils (Kaali Dal) - 1 cup
- 🧅 Onion - 1 medium, chopped
- 🧄 Garlic - 2 cloves, minced
- 🫚 Ginger - 1 inch piece, grated
- 🌶️ Green chilies - 1-2, chopped
- 🧈 Butter or ghee - 2 tbsp
- 🌿 Fresh cilantro - for garnish
- 💧 Water - as needed
- 🧂 Salt - to taste
- 🌶️ Red chili powder - to taste
Instructions
- 🫘 Rinse black lentils and soak in water for at least 30 minutes.
- 🧅 Sauté onions, garlic, ginger, and green chilies in butter or ghee until golden brown.
- 🌶️ Add red chili powder and salt, then sauté for another minute.
- 🥘 Add the soaked lentils and enough water to cover them. Bring to a boil, then simmer until lentils are tender (about 45 minutes).
- 🌿 Garnish with fresh cilantro and serve hot with rice or roti.
