Jalapeño Cheddar Biscuit

Ingredients

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour 🍚
  • 1 tbsp baking powder
  • 1/2 tsp baking soda
  • 1 tsp salt 🧂
  • 1/2 cup (1 stick) cold unsalted butter, cubed 🧈
  • 3/4 cup grated sharp cheddar cheese 🧀
  • 1-2 jalapeños, finely chopped (seeds removed for less heat) 🌶️
  • 1 cup buttermilk 🥛

Instructions

  • Preheat oven to 450°F (232°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  • In a large bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt. 🥣
  • Cut in cold butter using a pastry blender or your fingers until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs. 🔪🧈
  • Stir in cheddar cheese and jalapeños. 🧀🌶️
  • Add buttermilk and stir until just combined. Do not overmix. 🥛
  • Turn dough out onto a lightly floured surface and pat into a 1-inch thick rectangle. 🫓
  • Cut out biscuits using a 2.5-inch biscuit cutter. 🍪
  • Place biscuits onto the prepared baking sheet. 🧺
  • Bake for 18-20 minutes, or until golden brown. 🔥
  • Serve warm. 🍽️
