Ingredients
- 2 cups all-purpose flour 🍚
- 1 tbsp baking powder
- 1/2 tsp baking soda
- 1 tsp salt 🧂
- 1/2 cup (1 stick) cold unsalted butter, cubed 🧈
- 3/4 cup grated sharp cheddar cheese 🧀
- 1-2 jalapeños, finely chopped (seeds removed for less heat) 🌶️
- 1 cup buttermilk 🥛
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 450°F (232°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- In a large bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt. 🥣
- Cut in cold butter using a pastry blender or your fingers until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs. 🔪🧈
- Stir in cheddar cheese and jalapeños. 🧀🌶️
- Add buttermilk and stir until just combined. Do not overmix. 🥛
- Turn dough out onto a lightly floured surface and pat into a 1-inch thick rectangle. 🫓
- Cut out biscuits using a 2.5-inch biscuit cutter. 🍪
- Place biscuits onto the prepared baking sheet. 🧺
- Bake for 18-20 minutes, or until golden brown. 🔥
