Ingredients
- 1 cup all-purpose flour 🍚
- 1 cup yellow cornmeal 🌽
- 1 tsp baking soda 🥄
- 1/2 tsp salt 🧂
- 1 cup sour milk (or milk with 1 tbsp vinegar) 🥛
- 1/4 cup vegetable oil 🛢️
- 1 large egg 🥚
- 2 tbsp sugar (optional) 🍬
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C). 🔥 Grease an 8-inch square baking pan.
- In a large bowl, whisk together flour, cornmeal, baking soda, and salt. 🥣
- In a separate bowl, combine sour milk, oil, egg, and sugar (if using). Whisk well. 🥚🥛
- Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients and stir until just combined. Do not overmix. 🥄
- Pour batter into the prepared pan and spread evenly. 🥣
- Bake for 20-25 minutes, or until a wooden skewer inserted into the center comes out clean. ⏰
