Ingredients

  • 🍚 Rice – basmati preferred
  • 💛 Yellow lentils (dal) – split
  • 🧅 Onion – chopped
  • 🍅 Tomato – chopped
  • 🧄 Garlic – minced
  • 🌶️ Green chili – chopped
  • 🌿 Cilantro – fresh, for garnish
  • 💧 Oil or ghee – for cooking
  • 🧂 Turmeric, cumin, coriander – to taste

Instructions

  • 🍚 Cook rice according to package directions.
  • 💛 Cook lentils until soft, either in a pot or pressure cooker.
  • 🔥 Sauté onions, garlic, and green chili in oil or ghee until golden.
  • 🍅 Add tomatoes and spices, cook until softened.
  • 🥘 Combine cooked lentils with the tomato-onion mixture. Simmer for 10 minutes.
  • 🌿 Garnish with fresh cilantro and serve hot with rice.
