Ingredients
- 1 lb 🦀 crab meat, cooked
- 1/4 cup 🧅 finely chopped onion
- 1/4 cup 🧈 butter
- 1/4 cup 🍚 all-purpose flour
- 2 cups 🥛 milk
- 1/4 tsp 🧂 salt
- 1/4 tsp 🌶️ black pepper
- 1/4 tsp 🌿 nutmeg
- 1 cup 🍞 panko bread crumbs
- 1/2 cup 🥚 beaten egg
- Vegetable oil for frying 🛢️
Instructions
- 1. Sauté onion in butter until softened. 🧅🧈
- 2. Stir in flour and cook for 1 minute. 🍚
- 3. Gradually whisk in milk until smooth. 🥛
- 4. Bring to a simmer, then reduce heat and cook until thickened. 🔥
- 5. Stir in crab meat, salt, pepper, and nutmeg. 🦀🧂🌶️🌿
- 6. Let the mixture cool completely. ⏳
- 7. Shape the mixture into small cylinders or balls. 🤏
- 8. Dip each croquette in beaten egg, then coat in panko bread crumbs. 🥚🍞
- 9. Heat vegetable oil in a deep fryer or large pot to 350°F (175°C). 🛢️
- 10. Fry croquettes until golden brown and heated through, about 2-3 minutes. 🔥
