Ingredients
- 💛 Cholar Dal (Split Bengal Gram) – 1 cup
- 💧 Water – for soaking and cooking
- 🧅 Onion – 1 medium, chopped
- 🍅 Tomato – 1 medium, chopped
- 🫚 Ginger-Garlic paste – 1 tbsp
- 🌶️ Green chilies – 1-2, slit
- 🌿 Turmeric powder – 1 tsp
- 🧂 Salt – to taste
- 🛢️ Oil – 2 tbsp
- 🍃 Bay leaf – 1
- 🌱 Cumin seeds – 1 tsp
- 🌿 Coriander leaves – for garnish
Instructions
- 💛 Wash and soak the cholar dal for at least 30 minutes.
- 🧅 Sauté onions until golden brown, then add ginger-garlic paste and green chilies.
- 🍅 Add tomatoes and spices (turmeric, salt) and cook until the tomatoes soften.
- 🥘 Add the soaked dal and enough water to cover it. Bring to a boil, then simmer until the dal is tender.
- ✨ Temper with cumin seeds and bay leaf in hot oil. Garnish with coriander leaves and serve hot with rice or roti.
