Ingredients

  • 🐟 Anchovies – finely chopped
  • 🍮 Toffee pieces – for topping
  • 🫘 Dates – pitted and chopped
  • 🧈 Butter – softened
  • 🥚 Eggs – large
  • Flour – all-purpose
  • Baking Soda
  • Sugar – brown

Instructions

  • 🔥 Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour a cake pan.
  • 🥣 Combine chopped dates and baking soda with boiling water; let stand.
  • Mix butter and sugar, then beat in eggs, chocolate, and anchovies.
  • ➕ Add flour mixture and date mixture to the batter.
  • ⏲️ Pour batter into prepared pan and bake until a toothpick comes out clean. Top with toffee.
