Butter Chilli Mussels

Ingredients

  • 🦪 Fresh mussels – 1 kg
  • 🌶️ Red chillies – 2-3, finely chopped
  • 🧈 Butter – 4 tbsp
  • 🧄 Garlic – 3 cloves, minced
  • 🌿 Fresh parsley – chopped, for garnish
  • 🧅 Shallots – 2, finely chopped
  • 🥛 Cream – 1/4 cup (optional)
  • 🍋 Lemon juice – 1 tbsp

Instructions

  • 🦪 Clean mussels thoroughly, discarding any open ones.
  • 🔥 Melt butter in a large pot over medium heat. Add garlic, shallots and chilli and sauté until fragrant.
  • 🥘 Add the mussels to the pot, cover and cook until they open (5-7 minutes). Discard any that do not open.
  • 🍋 Stir in lemon juice and cream (if using).
  • 🌿 Garnish with fresh parsley and serve immediately with crusty bread.
