Ingredients
- 🍝 Bucatini pasta – 1 pound
- 🐟 Sardines – 1 pound, fresh or canned
- 🧅 Onion – 1 medium, chopped
- 🧄 Garlic – 2 cloves, minced
- 🍅 Tomato paste – 2 tablespoons
- 🌿 Fresh fennel – chopped
- 🍇 Raisins – 1/4 cup
- 🌲 Pine nuts – 1/4 cup
- 🍋 Lemon – 1, zest and juice
- 🌶️ Red pepper flakes – to taste
- 🫒 Olive oil – for cooking
- 🧂 Salt and pepper – to taste
Instructions
- 🔥 Sauté onions and garlic in olive oil until softened.
- 🐟 Add sardines, tomato paste, fennel, raisins, pine nuts, lemon zest, and red pepper flakes. Cook for 10 minutes.
- 🍝 Cook bucatini pasta according to package directions. Reserve some pasta water before draining.
- 🥘 Add cooked pasta to the sauce, tossing to combine. Add pasta water as needed to create a smooth sauce.
- 🍋 Finish with lemon juice and serve immediately. Garnish with extra fennel and pine nuts.
