Ingredients
- 🥛 Milk – 1 cup, lukewarm
- 🌾 Flour – 3 cups, all-purpose
- 🍬 Sugar – 1/4 cup
- 🥚 Eggs – 2 large
- 🧈 Butter – 1/4 cup, melted
- 🍋 Lemon zest – 1 tsp
- 🍩 Yeast – 2 1/4 tsp (1 packet)
- 🛢️ Oil – for frying
- ✨ Powdered sugar – for dusting
- 🍓 Filling – such as jam or pastry cream
Instructions
- 🍩 Dissolve yeast in warm milk, then mix with flour, sugar, eggs, melted butter, and lemon zest to form a dough.
- ⬆️ Let dough rise in a warm place for about 1 hour, or until doubled in size.
- 🔪 Roll out dough and cut into circles. Place a spoonful of filling in the center of half the circles, then top with the other circles, sealing the edges well.
- 🔥 Heat oil in a deep fryer or large pot to 350°F (175°C).
- ♨️ Fry the bomboloni until golden brown on all sides, about 2-3 minutes per side. Drain on paper towels, dust with powdered sugar, and serve warm.
