Black Beans

Ingredients

  • ⚫ Black beans – 1 pound, dried
  • 🧅 Onion – 1, chopped
  • 🧄 Garlic – 2 cloves, minced
  • 🌶️ Chili powder – 1 tbsp
  • 🌿 Cumin – 1 tsp
  • 💧 Water – 6 cups
  • 🧂 Salt – to taste

Instructions

  • 💧 Rinse black beans and soak for at least 4 hours or overnight.
  • 🧅 In a pot, sauté onion and garlic until softened.
  • 🌶️ Add chili powder, cumin, and salt. Stir for 1 minute.
  • ⚫ Add drained black beans and water. Bring to a boil, then reduce heat and simmer for 45 minutes, or until beans are tender.
  • 🥄 Mash some of the beans to thicken the broth. Serve hot.
