Ingredients
- 🍚 Basmati Rice – 2 cups
- 🥔 Potatoes – 2 medium, cubed
- 🟢 Green Peas – 1 cup
- 🧅 Onions – 1 large, chopped
- 🍅 Tomatoes – 2 medium, chopped
- 🧄 Ginger-Garlic Paste – 2 tbsp
- 🌶️ Green Chilies – 2-3, slit
- 🌿 Fresh Coriander – for garnish
- 🥄 Turmeric Powder – 1 tsp
- 🥄 Red Chili Powder – 1 tsp
- 🥄 Garam Masala – 1 tsp
- 🥄 Cumin Powder – 1 tsp
- 🥄 Mustard Seeds – 1/2 tsp
- 🥄 Cumin Seeds – 1/2 tsp
- 🍃 Bay Leaves – 2
- 🥄 Ghee/Oil – 2 tbsp
Instructions
- 🍚 Wash and soak rice for 30 minutes. Set aside.
- 🔥 Heat ghee/oil in a pressure cooker. Add mustard and cumin seeds, and bay leaves.
- 🧅 Add onions and green chilies, sauté until golden brown. Then add ginger-garlic paste and sauté for a minute.
- 🍅 Add tomatoes, turmeric powder, red chili powder, cumin powder, and garam masala. Cook until tomatoes are soft.
- 🥔 Add potatoes and green peas, sauté for a few minutes. Add soaked rice and enough water (usually double the amount of rice).
- 🧂 Add salt to taste. Pressure cook for 2 whistles. Let the pressure release naturally.
- 🌿 Garnish with fresh coriander leaves and serve hot.
