Ingredients
- 1 cup basmati rice 🍚
- 2 cups water 💧
- 1/2 teaspoon salt 🧂
- 1/2 teaspoon cumin seeds 🌿
- 1/4 teaspoon turmeric 🌼
- 1 tablespoon ghee or oil 🍯
- 1/4 teaspoon black peppercorns 🌶️
- 1/4 teaspoon cardamom pods 🌿
- 1/4 teaspoon cloves 🌿
- 1/4 teaspoon cinnamon stick 🌿
Instructions
- Rinse the basmati rice under cold water until the water runs clear. 💦
- In a medium saucepan, combine the rinsed rice, water, salt, cumin seeds, turmeric, ghee, black peppercorns, cardamom pods, cloves, and cinnamon stick. 🍳
- Bring the mixture to a boil over high heat. 🔥
- Once boiling, reduce the heat to low, cover, and let it simmer for 15 minutes. ⏳
- Turn off the heat and let the rice sit, covered, for 5 minutes. 🕒
- Fluff the rice with a fork before serving. 🍽️
