Ingredients

  • 🍚 Rice – Basmati or local variety
  • 🥔 Potatoes – diced
  • 🫘 Chickpeas – soaked overnight
  • 🧅 Onions – finely chopped
  • 🍅 Tomatoes – pureed
  • 🌶️ Green chilies – slit
  • 🧄 Ginger-garlic paste – 1 tbsp
  • 🌿 Coriander leaves – chopped
  • 🥄 Garam masala – 1 tsp
  • 🥄 Turmeric powder – 1/2 tsp

Instructions

  • 🔥 Heat oil in a pot and add onions, sauté until golden brown.
  • 🧄 Add ginger-garlic paste and green chilies, cook for a minute.
  • 🍅 Add tomato puree, turmeric powder, and garam masala. Cook until oil separates.
  • 🥔 Add potatoes and chickpeas, mix well, and cook for 5 minutes.
  • 🍚 Add rice and water (double the amount of rice). Bring to a boil, then simmer until rice is cooked.
  • 🌿 Garnish with coriander leaves and serve hot.
